Elsa Hosk has reflected on 10 years of sobriety in a candid post on Instagram.
The Victoria's Secret model has previously discussed her battle with alcoholism in her teenage years and early 20s, and on Thursday, she looked back on her sobriety journey as she shared her favourite magazine covers from the past decade.
"A decade ago I was super lost, wasn't booking many (any) jobs so I decided to move to NYC," Elsa wrote. "NYC was overwhelming and I got even more lost. It took me a while to realise all my problems started with me."
She went on to explain that discovered a whole new world after she "learned she was an alcoholic" and became clean and sober.
"I met some amazing people and friends and slowly found myself again... what followed because of that I could have never imagined. Grateful beyond words," the 31-year-old told her 5.9 million followers.
During an Instagram Q&A last summer, Elsa discussed her decision to quit drinking.
"I got sober when I was 20. It's been 10 years of no drinking. Being sober for me didn't mean that my life came to an end (which I thought at the time) it was the beginning of a real, beautiful, big, happy successful life. Quite the opposite of what I thought!" she shared.
"It was a struggle in the beginning because I'm an alcoholic (something you have to remind yourself of for the rest of your life) but it's the best decision I ever made. It's O.K. not to drink or do drugs."
She also revealed that she had quit smoking more than two years ago, but still uses electronic cigarettes.
