6 Dec– Elmo Magalona was proud and elated to be able to be involved not just in the opening ceremony of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, but to honour his father, the late OPM icon Francis Magalona as well.

As reported on ABS-CBN, the actor, who performed a rap of his father's song "Man From Manila" on stage during the event, stated that he was speechless when first offered to sing in the opening and pay homage to his father.

"A national event where almost every Filipino is participating and is anticipating for, and I get to pay tribute to my father? I thought this is going to be massive and exciting," he said.

Magalona's performance was one of three included in the Francis M medley aside from Inigo Pascual ("Mga Kababayan") and KZ Tandingan "Tayo'y mga Pinoy").

"Every time I do my dad's songs, I try to let my performance be heard by my dad and no one else and hopefully he can hear what I'm saying," he added.
