Ellie Goulding's make-up artist Lucy Wearing wanted to create a natural bridal look for the singer on her wedding day.

The Close to Me hitmaker wore a bespoke Chloe dress as she wed art dealer Caspar Jopling in August in front of guests including Orlando Bloom, Katy Perry, Princess Eugenie, and Princess Beatrice.

The 32-year-old worked closely on the dress design with Chloe creative director Natacha Ramsay-Levi and the fashion house's team, who spent 640 hours working on the gown.

And make-up artist Lucy, who also served as one of Ellie's bridesmaids in the opulent ceremony at York Minster, wanted to create a natural look that would reflect her friend's chic wedding dress.

"It was all about Ellie. When I saw the dress I was completely speechless because it was so her, with the ruffles that she loves and the initials interwoven into the veil," she told Harper's Bazaar. "I wanted the make-up to reflect Ellie's natural beauty in harmony with the dress and the day."

She wanted to avoid "too much gloss" and synthetic textures to give Ellie a timeless look and revealed that the singer worked hard to prepare her skin for her big day, including FaceGym facials and face masks.

"I don't think it's a good idea to look like a completely different person on your wedding day. You want to be an elevated version of yourself. So, we chose a look that was really classic, minimal and timeless and I focused on working with the natural flushed tones of her skin," Lucy explained.

Even though she was one of Ellie's bridesmaids on the big day, the make-up artist said it took under an hour to give the Love Me Like You Do singer an effortless look.

"It took 45 minutes to complete the look but I was with her from the moment she woke up to the minute we went out the door," she shared.
