Edwin Siu denies new drama copies "Rooftop Prince"

21 Jul - TVB actor Edwin Siu has recently dismissed allegations that his new drama, "A General, A Scholar and A Eunuch" is copying the Korean drama, "Rooftop Prince".

As reported on Mingpao, claims of plagiarism sparked recently, after viewers who saw the drama noticed similarities in the two series, especially the fact that it's a time-travelling drama involving royal officers - a general, a scholar, and a eunuch.

However, when asked about it recently, Edwin, who appeared at the promotional event alongside co-stars Raymond Cho and Matthew Ho, stated that while the characters are similar, they have two different plots altogether.

In "Rooftop Prince", actor Park yoo-chun stars as a Crown Prince of Joseon who - along with his personal bodyguard, scholar, and palace eunuch - found himself arriving in the modern era while investigating the death of his wife.

In the new TVB drama, the three aforementioned actors play imperial officials who, upon accidentally time-travelled to the modern era - found themselves working with a woman (Kristal Tin) who duped them into believing that she can arrange a meeting with an actress who resembles the missing crown princess.

"People might think it's similar because of the subject matter. But the local elements cannot be replaced," said the actor.

He also added jokingly, "We don't have a handsome actor like Park Yoo-chun."
