Eddie Peng enjoys working with director Ann Hui

22 May - Taiwanese actor Eddie Peng admitted that he has enjoyed every second of his cooperation with Hong Kong female filmmaker, Ann Hui.

As reported on Oriental Daily, the actor, who spoke to the media about working on Ann's Japanese Occupation movie, "Our Time Will Come", said that he felt like his time finally came when he was offered a role to star in an Ann Hui movie.

The offer, he said, came after he kept running into the filmmaker at the Golden Horse Awards and the Hong Kong Film Awards.

"Director Hui is more courageous than most guys. She was better at accepting challenges than I am. She is certain about what she wants, and makes no compromise," he said.

As to what he meant by calling Ann Hui courageous, Eddie said that the director doesn't care if the subject matter has been discussed, as long as she could tell it from her point of view.

"I have a lot of respect for her," he added.

Playing the role of guerilla captain Lau Hak Jai, Eddie shared that he made a lot of research about the respected fighter to make the role more convincing, and even took good care of smaller details like his physique and how his nails should look.

The upcoming movie is set to open the Shanghai International Film Festival.
