‘Dynasty’ Reboot in Works at The CW With ‘The OC’ Creators

The CW is bringing back “Dynasty.”

“The O.C.” creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are in development on a script at the youth-driven network that would reboot the classic 1980s primetime soap opera.

Schwartz and Savage are writing and executive producing the project along with Sallie Patrick. The project hails from the duo’s Fake Empire production company in association with CBS TV Studios.

The reboot will follow two of America’s wealthiest families, the Carringtons and the Colbys, as they feud for control over their fortune and their children.

The series will be told primarily through the perspectives of two women at odds: Fallon Carrington — daughter of billionaire Blake Carrington — and her soon-to-be stepmother, Cristal — a Hispanic woman marrying into this WASP family and America’s most powerful class.

Original “Dynasty” creators Esther Shapiro & Richard Shapiro will also serve as executive producers.
