Dwayne Johnson sings in new Moana clip

We’ve already smelled what The Rock is cooking – now, we can hear what he’s singing too.

Yes, here is our first snippet of Dwayne Johnson bursting into song as Maui in Disney’s upcoming ‘Moana,’ serenading the title character (voiced, although we don’t hear it here, by newcomer Auli'i Cravalho) with a somewhat boastful little ditty entitled ‘You’re Welcome.’

It would seem this song is a good representation of Johnson’s character, a Polynesian demigod of legend with a somewhat inflated opinion of himself – and while we’re not about to confuse the wrestler-turned-movie star’s dulcet tones with those of Indina Menzel, he handles himself pretty well.

The first all-CG film from seasoned Disney directorial duo Ron Clements and John Musker (‘The Little Mermaid,’ ‘Aladdin,’ ‘The Princess and the Frog’), ‘Moana’ features original music from Opetaia Foa'i, Mark Mancina, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.

The film has already attracted some controversy for its representation of Polynesian culture, with a Maui costume having been withdrawn from stores after being deemed culturally insensitive.

‘Moana’ opens in UK cinemas on 2 December.
