Durango Announces $30,000 Scholarship to Celebrate National Day of the Cowgirl
In 2022, Durango Boots officially secured the National Day of the Cowgirl through the National Day Archives to celebrate “the authenticity and diversity of the American cowgirl” annually on Sept. 15. In 2023, the brand is coming up with another surprise. This Friday, Durango announced a $30,000 scholarship fund that will be awarded to a young woman pursuing to further their education and careers in the Western industry.
Partnering with the Dude Ranch Foundation, the Durango scholarship application is now live online for those interested. “Through farming and ranching, arts and culture or equine sports, the spirit of a cowgirl shines through women from diverse backgrounds who share a passion for the western way of life,” said Erin DeLong of Durango. “This scholarship is a way for Durango to give back to hard-working women who want to have an impact on the western industry through their education and career.”

The details of the scholarship state that the chosen candidate will be announced next year and the student’s education will be funded within the 2024-25 academic year. “Awards are for $10,000 to 15,000 annually, based upon first-year collegiate status and are renewable for up to three years of undergraduate study,” the site reads.
To apply, applicants should be in their first year of college and currently enrolled as full-time students attending a four-year college in either the U.S. or Canada.
The scholarship will be open to apply until Dec. 31. You can read up on more of the applicant requirements online.
