Dulux's Colour of the Year for 2024 revealed
Sweet Embrace, a delicate pale pink, is the Dulux Colour of the Year 2024.
Hot pink has enjoyed much of the spotlight in the last year (we're looking at you, Barbiecore) but for 2024, soft, muted pinks will be dominating our Pinterest boards.
The soft, comforting hue of Sweet Embrace taps into the in-vogue pink interior trend (remember colour of the moment, millennial pink?) which has been swelling for the past decade. It's cooler and more sophisticated, evoking feelings of tenderness, comfort and assurance.
Truly versatile, this warm and delicate hue adds sweetness to a decorative scheme without being saccharine. From the kitchen to the living room, it will make your space feel comfortable and welcoming. In many ways, Sweet Embrace perfectly encapsulates the age-old phrase, 'home sweet home'.
It's also a metameric colour, meaning it changes tone with the light – in the early morning light it appears crisper, yet becomes a more blush pink during the brightness of midday, and increasingly violet in the evening.
'What is so wonderful about Sweet Embrace is its soothing quality. Like a whisper of reassurance in a moment of stress, it has a visual softness that calms the senses and creates an atmosphere of serenity,' says Marianne Shillingford, creative director and colour expert at Dulux.
Likened to an 'arm around the shoulder', using Sweet Embrace on your walls will deliver a stable foundation to any room.
'While being a beautiful standalone colour, it's a hue that perfectly combines with so many other shades making it a cheerleader in colour form,' adds Marianne. 'It's the perfect modern neutral that you can use with confidence, knowing it will unite each element from furnishings to artwork whilst creating a gently uplifting atmosphere.'
Now marking 21 years of Dulux's annual colour forecast, Sweet Embrace was chosen by leading interior designers as a shade that represents the global mood, and a universal need for clarity and joy.
