So it comes as no surprise to learn that Meghan Markle has been nominated for a top award at the 2019 World Fashion Awards.

New to the scene, the inaugural event has introduced an International Fashion Icon Award and the Duchess of Sussex is in the running for the title.

Though she’s up against some tough competition, as fellow nominees include supermodel Naomi Campbell, singer-turned-designer Rihanna, reality star Kim Kardashian, Victoria Beckham and Jennifer Lopez.

“As well as celebrating the amazing fashion designers, models, and the entire industry that make up our vibrant fashion scene, the awards ceremony will also act as a vehicle to raise funds and awareness for the Diamonds Children’s Foundation, which is currently in Mozambique following floods and cyclone that hit the entire country, Marketing and Communications Manager, Simon Gates, said.

“The aim is to help rebuild the houses for thousands of children who have been rendered homeless and most importantly to play a part in rebuilding the schools.”

Voting for the forthcoming event is now open while tickets can be purchased via Eventbrite with prices starting at £377.
