The Duchess of Cambridge donned an apt outfit as she and the Duke visited Dundee on Tuesday afternoon.

Kate wore her McQ by Alexander McQueen Black Watch tartan coat dress, first spotted on her on St. Andrew’s Day in November 2012.

She teamed the bespoke piece with her black Tod’s pumps, her sapphire and diamond drop earrings and a new green leather and suede shoulder bag by Manu Atelier.

Kate was joined by the Duke of Cambridge, as they officially opened Scotland’s first design museum V&A Dundee. The Duchess, who has a passion for the arts, was made Patron of the V&A last year.

During her speech, Kate said: “Last February, I was delighted to be asked to be the V&A’s Patron. Now, nearly a year later, I’m thrilled to be standing in a brand new V&A, one which has been built for the city of Dundee and for Scotland.

“I believe we should celebrate all our leading galleries, museums, and cultural centres playing a greater role in communities, not just in London, but up and down the country too. The cultural riches of the UK belong to all people of the UK.”

The Museum, which is at the heart of a £1 billion waterfront regeneration plan, is already bringing significant economic and social benefits to the local area, helping to reshape the city’s future as a hub for the creative industries.

The couple, who are known as the Earl and Countess of Strathearn in Scotland, met at the University of St. Andrews in Fife in 2001 – just 13 miles away from Dundee.

Kate and William last visited the coastal city in 2015 and later today they will meet with employees and their families from the Dundee Michelin factory, to hear first-hand how the factory’s planned closure is affecting them.

Following that, the royal couple will attend the Michelin Action Group, which is aiming to find and take forward solutions for repurposing the plant and providing a sustainable future for its skilled workforce.

Last week, the Duchess launched a new national support line for families in need in South London, while the Duke travelled to Davos, Switzerland where he interviewed Sir David Attenborough at the World Economic Forum.
