Dr. Steve denies neglecting daughter Celine Tam's education
27 Jun - Steve Tam, vocal coach and father to nine-year-old Celine Tam, denies that he and his wife neglected their daughter's studies for the sake of entering her into music competitions.
As reported on Mingpao, the vocal coach who is also known to many by his nickname Dr. Steve, recently released a statement to respond to criticisms from the public about his daughter's constant participation in shows like "Let's Sing Kids" and "America's Got Talent", saying that he is well aware of the importance of education for Celine.
Dr. Steve stated that Celine has loved singing and performing since she was just a toddler, and that as a parent, it is his job to help cultivate her talent. However, he has never forced Celine into doing something that she wouldn't want to do.
He also stated that despite her participation in the many singing competitions, including her upcoming involvement in "America's Got Talent", Celine has never neglected school work - that her attendance rate is more than 90 percent.
He added that she is rarely absent from her classes and that they would always prioritise education over other things.
Finally, he thanked everybody for their interest in his daughter and the support given to Celine for the upcoming show.
