Dr. Steve addresses Nancy Sit's allegations against him
27 Jun - Steve Tam, vocal coach and father of 9-year-old talent, Celine Tam, recently released a statement to address Nancy Sit's allegation against him.
As reported on Mingpao, the vocal coach, known to many as Dr. Steve recently clarified allegations made by Nancy Sit that he poached students from her art centre to join his own vocal programme while he was volunteering at the place three years ago.
Dr. Steve stated that while Nancy's art centre also prepared a vocal course for children, it was done in a group setting, which is why parents of the three children asked him to teach them privately instead.
He stressed that it was not his intention to profit from the art centre, and that it is normal for a vocal coach to charge a private lesson differently than in a group setting. However, he apologised to Nancy if his action has deeply troubled her.
He also offered to donate the fees he received from the three students three years ago, which he estimated to be HKD 80,000 to a charity fund.
"I will also reiterate that my daughter Celine and I have the greatest respect for Nancy and her family and would like to thank them for their appreciation for Celine," he added.
