Each week, Yahoo Lifestyle Singapore profiles a beauty blogger that is based in Singapore. Get to know their beauty secrets and find out how you can improve your daily skincare and make-up regime. This week, we feature Alverina Wijaya, who owns jewellery label Chainless Brain and runs the blog ALOEBELLA.

1. How did you start becoming a blogger?

It wasn’t really my intention to become a blogger, I still see myself as a designer today. I was sharing my favourite things on Instagram and I have started using it to promote my own jewellery label, Chainless Brain. Eventually, opportunities arose when I captured more attention on Instagram. My blog ALOEBELLA is less than a year old.

2. Can you describe what a typical day is like for you?

Besides attending events and meetings, I would usually be spending time at home to get inspired and preparing for my next project. Having said that, I’m hardly at home for the whole day. But if I could, I would usually be spending time shooting.

3. What’s your morning beauty regime?

I would usually start my beauty regime after showering as it is the best time for the ingredients to be absorbed into the skin.

My current regime is as follows:
1. One Essential Mist-Lotion from Dior
2. Fresh Calming Toner from Laneige
3. White Program Radiance Water from Hera
4. Moisturiser for All Skin Types from Dr.GL
5. UV Protection Cream SPF 50+ from Clé de Peau Beauté

4. What’s your night-time beauty regime?

When I’m too tired or feeling lazy, I will be using only one thing, the La Prairie Skin Caviar Sleep Mask. Otherwise, I will usually cleanse my face with Dr.GL Cleanser Lightening, then apply the following products: White Program Radiance Water from Hera, Gentle Nourishing Emulsion from Cle De Peau, and then finally Moisturiser for All Skin Types from Dr.GL. On days when I need extra whitening, I will use the Vitamin Serum and Ultra Facial Oil Free Gel Cream from Kiehl’s.

5. What are your current favourite beauty products? Why?

I have lots of them! But my favourite ones are always from Hera, Dr.GL, Dior and La Prairie. These brands don’t give me any skin breakouts when I use or try their new products, so I really trust them.

6. What is the most common beauty mistake you have heard or seen Singaporeans making? How would you wish to correct it?

Using or trying different kinds of peeling products within a short period of time. This will actually irritate or break your skin out. I wish brands would educate customers on the usage of such products and teach the recommended full beauty regime after using any peeling or exfoliating product.

7. Is there a beauty secret that you swear by?

Getting hydrated at all times by drinking more water, and investing in a ReFa facial tool.

8. How big is your beauty collection now?

I don’t have the luxury of space for storage and I don’t really like to throw products away without finishing them. So when I know I can’t finish them, I will give them to someone whose skin type is better suited for the product. I probably have about three cartons worth of make-up and beauty products now.
