Donald Trump Slams New York Times for ‘Truth’ Ad to Air During Oscars (Video)
President Donald Trump renewed his attacks on the New York Times on Sunday, tweeting about the 30-second TV commercial the paper plans to air during the Academy Awards.
“For the first time the failing @nytimes will take an ad (a bad one) to help save its failing reputation,” the president wrote on his personal Twitter feed. “Try reporting accurately & fairly!”
The Times has had other TV promotional campaigns but this marks the first time it has placed an ad during the Oscar telecast, which airs on ABC Sunday night.

The 30-second spot, called “The Truth Is Hard,” underscores the conflict over knowing and finding the truth in an era of “alternative facts.” The text-only ad concludes with the tagline: “The truth is more important now than ever.”
The spot was played Sunday morning during Fox News’ “Fox & Friends Weekend” as well as CNN’s “New Day,” according to Ad Week. The president hasn’t said he watches a lot of cable news, and in the past has responded on Twitter to what he sees on the air. So he may have caught the Times’ ad when it aired on one of the Sunday shows.
