Donald Trump Delivers Fox News Channel’s Second-Best Town Hall Demo Ratings

Sean Hannity’s latest Donald Trump town hall clocked 2.7M viewers including 589K in the news demo, putting Hannity in the No. 1 spot for the night among cable news programs in the demo.

It’s also FNC’s second-highest-rated town-hall performance in the demo ever. Trump’s Tuesday night Hannity hour sits behind Bret Baier’s town hall with Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders in Detroit back in March.

Tuesday night’s Trump talk, in which the GOP nominee changed his position on deporting 11M undocumented immigrants, made headlines and boosted Hannity’s ratings by 32% in total viewers and 33% in the demo compared with the primetime show’s calendar-year average.

Last night marked the fourth time in August alone that Hannity has finished first among cable news programs in the 25-54 age bracket. It also happened on August 4, 16 and 17.

In return, Trump got another unfettered hour of primetime on the cable news network – contributing to what progressive media watchdog org Media Matters has guesstimated to be about $30M in “free media coverage and publicity” for the candidate. In fairness, Hannity has asked Clinton on his show, but to no avail. And yesterday, CNN reporters noted Trump has not been sitting down with press lately, except FNC, while Clinton’s giving all the news networks a miss these days. Instead, she’s taking questions from late-night hosts.
