After Donald Trump decided to dump SAG-AFTRA first, the actors' and performers' union has now voted to ban the former president from ever rejoining.

Members were set to decide on his official expulsion last week, but instead Trump sent a letter filled with insults to Hollywood's biggest union before they could do so.

Now in a statement, the union's president Gabrielle Carteris has said: “Preventing Donald Trump from ever rejoining SAG-AFTRA is more than a symbolic step.

“It is a resounding statement that threatening or inciting harm against fellow members will not be tolerated.”

Trump had been a member of the union thanks to his screen appearances, in movies like Zoolander, Home Alone 2, and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.

However, when he caught wind of his impending expulsion vote, following what the union described as 'a reckless campaign of misinformation aimed at discrediting and ultimately threatening the safety of journalists, many of whom are Sag-Aftra members', he fired off a letter of resignation.

“I write to you today regarding the so-called Disciplinary Committee hearing aimed at revoking my union membership. Who cares!” he wrote.

“I’ve also greatly helped the cable news television business (said to be a dying platform with not much time left until I got involved in politics), and created thousands of jobs at networks such as MSDNC and Fake News CNN, among many others.

“[The union] has done little for its members, and nothing for me. I no longer wish to be associated with your union. As such, this letter is to inform you of my immediate resignation from Sag-Aftra. You have done nothing for me.”

In response, the union said merely: “Thank you.”
