Donald Glover Shares His Mom's Advice For Playing Lando Calrissian: 'Don't Mess It Up'

Donald Glover is getting ready to take on the role of Lando Calrissian in an upcoming Star Wars prequel, and the Atlanta star says there's a lot of pressure to get it right.

Glover sat down with Ellen DeGeneres on Wednesday, where he opened up about getting cast as the iconic Cloud City administrator, a character he's idolized since childhood.

"It's really crazy. I'm very honored. It's a very big deal," Glover said. "[Lando] was the very first [Star Wars] toy I ever had."

While the fan reaction has been overwhelmingly positive, Glover revealed that a lot of the pressure surrounding the role is coming from his own mother -- who is a huge fan of Billie Dee Williams, the actor who first played Lando in the original trilogy.

"I told my dad [about getting cast] immediately, and my mom was in the background going, 'Don't mess it up!'" he shared.
