Doctor Strange confirmed for Avengers: Infinity War
The Doctor is in… ‘Avengers: Infinity War’.
During an interview with Empire Magazine, ‘Doctor Strange’ star Benedict Cumberbatch confirmed that Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme will be joining the upcoming ‘Avengers’ sequel.
And commented on how difficult it is to line up everyone’s schedules…
“To get us all together will be quite something,” he said. “That’s why this character is being introduced, to open up the next chapter… So watch this space to see how that unfolds.”

Of course, most of us assumed that Doctor Strange would show up in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’. I mean, why wouldn’t he? But it’s nice to have some confirmation… and we still don’t know whether or not he’ll appear in the currently untitled ‘Avengers’ sequel in 2019.
You know… the one which was previously ‘Infinity War: Part 2’.
But it seems Cumberbatch almost wasn’t part of it at all.
It turns out that the British actor was almost forced to turn down the role of Doctor Strange due to his prior commitment to a stage production of ‘Hamlet’. But Marvel was so keen on casting him on the role, they decided to put the production on hold.
“[I] really did think I had to kiss it goodbye,” said Cumberbatch. “If you can’t jump on board when the ride’s going past, that’s usually it. So the hugest compliment they paid me was to come back to me. It motivated me to try to fulfil their faith in me.”
