Disney Promo Video Reveals First Footage From Moana

It’s all a bit blink and you’ll miss it, but here’s our first sneak peek at Disney’s upcoming animated movie ‘Moana,’ showing the title character and her companion Maui (voiced by Dwayne Johnson) in action.

The footage appears in a 30 second promo from Disney Channel show Movie Surfers, which you can watch above.

The 56th animated movie from the studio is the work of veteran directorial duo Ron Clements and John Musker (’The Little Mermaid,’ ‘Aladdin’), and co-written by Taika Waititi (’What We Do In The Shadows,’ set to direct ‘Thor: Ragnarok’).

Newcomer Auli’i Cravalho voices the title role as a passionate young sailor who embarks on a quest to find a fabled island, along with her hero, the “once-powerful demi-god” Maui.

The promo calls Maui “larger than life,” and the very brief glimpse of the character in action would appear to confirm this.

The film will also feature seasoned character actor Alan Tudyk, who has previously done voice work on Disney hits ‘Frozen,’ ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ and ‘Big Hero 6.’

Perhaps this very brief glimpse doesn’t give us too great an idea of what to expect from ‘Moana,’ but we’ve still got a bit of a wait anyway - the film doesn’t open in the UK until 2 December 2016.
