SINGAPORE — Disney’s Frozen musical will be performed in Singapore from 5 February next year for a limited period.

Making its only stop in Southeast Asia, Frozen will be staged at Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands and is produced by the same team behind the performance of Aladdin in Singapore in 2019. The hit Broadway musical, which is organised by Base Entertainment Asia, is adapted from the eponymous Disney film and The Snow Queen, the fairy tale by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen.

A waitlist for the early bird tickets is now open at www.frozenthemusical.sg for those who wish to enjoy a 10 per cent discount. They have to sign up by 29 September, 11.59pm, to qualify for the discount. The sale begins on 30 September, while the discount is valid until 9 October, 11.59pm.

Felipe Gamba, Vice President International Strategy and Licensed Partnerships, Disney Theatrical Productions, said in a statement, “Frozen is about a return from isolation and a community healing. And so, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to present this beautiful show there at this moment in time, and we just can’t wait for audiences to experience its remarkable cast, crew and orchestra on the same stage that has been our home in Singapore for years.”

The musical is directed by Michael Grandage and choreographed by Rob Ashford – both Tony Award winners – and features music and lyrics by Academy Award-winning songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.

Frozen was the highest grossing new musical during its debut season on Broadway. It has been performed across North America, London’s West End, Japan and Hamburg, Germany. A separate production of the musical in Australia has been performed in several cities there.

The animated film Frozen (2013) and the sequel Frozen II (2019) have grossed US$1.28 billion and US$1.45 billion in worldwide box office revenue, respectively.
