Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone are two of the most fascinating, gorgeous young talents on the planet today. And, believe it or not, they’re playing love interests in yet another film. That film? La La Land, a romantic musical comedy-drama (yes, it’s got everything) set to be released on December 2nd.

This will be the third film that allows us to watch Stone and Gosling be adorable together, the others being Crazy, Stupid, Love and Gangster Squad. Finally, we have a couple to replace Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan as “world’s best movie couple.”

When asked about their chemistry during the Crazy, Stupid, Love press junket, Stone was pretty hilarious when chatting about her co-star.

“It was the worst,” Stone joked in an interview. “He can’t act and he doesn’t have that face, which is a real bummer, and we didn’t have any fun at all. There was a lot of crying and a lot of physical violence toward each other. Needless to say, I struggled through the whole process, but I came out stronger for it and now here I sit, with a restraining order against him in the other room.”

And, it seems like that kind of sense of humor is something that Gosling and Stone have in common. In fact, Glenn Ficarra, co-director of the new film, told Entertainment Weekly why these two work so well together.

“Ryan walked in, immediately flubbed his first line,” Ficarra said. “And [Stone] just laid into him, like, ‘Oh, you’re killing this buddy.’ She was the only one not to be intimidated by him, and in that moment [my co-director] and I knew, ‘Alright this is it, she’s right for the part.’ She continued that, and they just got along really well. They have a very similar sense of humor…they riff off each other really well.”

Ficarra noted that a lot of the young actresses who read for Stone’s role were so intimidated by the actor that they couldn’t be playful and natural while reading their lines. But since Stone and Gosling are so familiar with each other, the chemistry just came naturally.

“They love each other in real life, and they get on like a house on fire,” Ficarra continued.

Because we can’t stop watching it, here’s the LaLa Land trailer:

Anyone else have the sudden urge to rewatch a bunch of Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone movies? And, uh, pretend we’re friends with them too? Hanging out with these two sounds like the best night ever.
