Dingdong Dantes expresses support for ABS-CBN

13 Feb – Despite being from a rival network, Dingdong Dantes recently expressed his support for ABS-CBN, which is still facing issues with its franchise renewal.

As reported on Rappler, the Kapuso star tweeted several messages which started with, "We are one in the media industry. We have one love for the many talents and crafts under this Network, the products and output of which, directly or indirectly, benefit the lives of millions of Filipinos."

"In the end, I pray that the truest interests of the people, under the rule of law, will prevail over any other political agenda conveniently veiled as a countermeasure against alleged abuses," he added.

He also quoted Rep. Lito Atienza, who said, "Inaction will only spell the weakening of the foundations of our democratic system. If Congress will not take action, this Congress is really paralysed with inaction; and we should not be deserving to be called representatives of the people."

His statement of support came following Solicitor General Jose Calida's action in filing of a quo warranto petition asking the Supreme Court to void its franchise.
