Ding Hei: Michelle Chen, Chen Xiao are similar to each other!
23 Oct – Chinese director Ding Hei has nothing but good words to say about celebrity couple Michelle Chen and Chen Xiao, who now have both worked with him.
As reported on Epoch Times, the director, who helms Michelle's new series, the Teresa Teng biodrama "I Only Care About You", shared that he found the actress to have similar character to her husband, Chinese actor Chen Xiao - whom Ding worked with on the 2017 drama, "Nothing Gold Can Stay".
"Both of them are very hardworking actors. Just like Chen Xiao, Michelle did a lot of preparations quietly before we began production," he said.
Ding also praised the couple for being down-to-earth and always treating everybody kindly.
The tabloids previously reported that it was Chen Xiao who urged producer Yu Zheng to cast Michelle Chen to star in the 2014 series "The Romance of the Condor Heroes" - the drama which united the two of them and led them to tie the knot in real life.
When Ding is asked if he cast Michelle in the drama based on Chen Xiao's recommendation as well, the director laughed and responded, "I didn't know Michelle [was his wife] before. I knew Chen Xiao's son first before I knew who the mother is."
In "I Only Care About You", Michelle portrays the late singer Teresa Teng, whose legacy remains until today.
"Michelle started preparing herself for the role one year before production. She learned Japanese, and Teresa's music is played all the time at our house. She was thoroughly prepared," said Chen, who attended the press conference to support his wife.
