Diane von Furstenberg is working on a technically advanced version of her famous wrap dress.
Launched in 1974, Diane’s famous design has become the cornerstone of her namesake label.
For its 40th anniversary in 2014, the garment was celebrated with a special exhibition, and now the designer is giving it a modern makeover.
“One of the things that I’m working on is on-demand, especially with the wrap, so with technology, you’ll be able to choose your own wrap, choose your own prints, mix and match and all of that,” she told the Alicast podcast.
She added that keeping up to date with new technology is “completely important to her”, and she’s been enjoying using Zoom and other online resources during lockdown.
She adds that she's both curious and fascinated by developments in the field as she loves to discover new things.
“It’s everything, it’s absolutely everything. As we speak, I am planning all kinds of very innovative things for next year. It’s a conversion between entertainment, technology, fashion and e-commerce. So I guess we will be talking more, and I want to be more and more involved,” she smiled.
“Even though I’m an older woman, I love to look ahead. It’s just part of who I am. I’m very curious. And I’m fascinated, and I love communication. I love discovering. I love exchanging ideas and exchanging opinions and sharing.”
