Denise Ho blasts Carrie Lam for response on heightened violence

14 Nov – Hong Kong singer and social activist Denise Ho slammed HKSAR Chief Executive Carrie Lam for her recent press conference addressing the heightened violence in the city that left over 60 people injured.

Lam recently went in front of the media to speak about the incident, which made headlines around the world after a protester was shot in Sai Wan Ho by a police officer, while another man was set alight outside Ma On Shan Plaza, saying that these rioters were destroying society.

In regard to the shooting, Lam stated that it happened in "the cause of enforcement operation". On the other hand, she condemned the other incident as "malicious" and "totally inhumane".

Lam stressed that the government will not yield to pressure from the escalating violence to satisfy protesters' political demands. She added that the government will also find ways and means to end the violence as soon as possible.

In response to the press conference, Denise took to Twitter and wrote, "The presser could have been concluded in two lines, "It's not my fault. It's always everybody else's fault"."

"Quite a disappointment, Carrie. Though you would have something new by now," she added.
