Just when you thought the fashion industry had enough to deal thanks to the bootcut jean revival and that acid wash thong, a denim swimwear line has landed just in time for summer.

In a move sure to puzzle even the most daring of dressers, American brand Shinesty is behind the surprising new trend with jean-inspired bikinis, swimsuits and trunks on offer.

What’s more, it’s perfect for couples who can’t resist a matchy-matchy Instagram post with co-ordinating swim gear also up for grabs.

For women, there’s an aptly-named ‘jeankini’ priced at $59.99 (approximately £46) in acid wash.
