Swearing fans, rejoice! The long-awaited Deadwood movie sounds like it is actually happening.

According to Kim Dickens, who played Joanie Stubbs on the celebrated HBO series, cameras are set to roll in the autumn.

Speaking to Comicbook.com around her current project Fear The Walking Dead, she revealed: “Well, I’ll tell you, next up, looks like all signs are go to do the Deadwood movie this fall.

“I’m not giving an official release on this or anything, but yeah, they’re locking us down.”

Set in South Dakota in the 1870s, the show first aired in 2006, but was unceremoniously cancelled after only three seasons.

It starred Ian McShane as saloon owner Al Swearengen, alongside Timothy Olyphant, John Hawkes, Anna Gunn, the late Powers Boothe and Keith Carradine.

Two two-hour TV movies were then planned for the following year to wrap up the unconcluded storylines, but they never came to fruition.

Ever since, there’s been rumours about the potential to bring the show back, often scuppered by the difficulty of getting the original cast back together.

But now it appears that HBO is back on course.
