Deadpool Hijacks Japanese X-Men Trailer

It looks as though ‘Deadpool’ just can’t keep himself to himself.

Although UK audiences saw ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ arrive in cinemas in May, it looks as though Japanese fans are still waiting… and it won’t appear over there until mid-August. Thankfully, they’ve got a few cool trailers to tide them over.

And the latest includes an awesome skit by Deadpool.

It’s one of the greatest feats of cross-promotional marketing we’ve ever seen… but the official Japanese ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ trailer features a segment where Ryan Reynolds discusses the movie as Deadpool.

And while he’s toned his language down a little, he’s just as cutting as ever.

“I just wanted to share with you my two cents on five things you may have missed in the ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ trailer,” he says. “I know what you’re thinking – an after-credits scene, for a trailer? I thought they only did that for movies, right?”

“Well, not everybody makes it to the end of Fox movies,” he adds… clearly a dig at his own appearance as Deadpool in the critically-reviled ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’.

He then goes on to ridicule the X-Men…

“This movie is set in the ‘80s,” he explains. “Apparently, Apocalypse kicks Professor X’s ass for forgetting to wake him up before you go go.”

He even takes the time to ridicule Quicksilver’s t-shirt.

“Major plot twist – when Quicksilver discloses to Mystique that his father is magneto… and he’s a fan of Canadian super group, Rush… so many plot twists.”

Of course, Ryan Reynolds is no doubt contractually obligated to perform a certain amount of promotion for the ‘Deadpool’ movie (which was released in Japan on 1 June) but this really goes above and beyond.

If there was an Oscar for promoting a movie, Ryan Reynolds would get it.

‘Deadpool’ is out now on DVD and Blu-ray.
