Deadpool 2 Want Kyle Chandler For Cable, Mackenzie Davis For Domino
We already knew that ‘Deadpool 2′ will include Cable. That’s because ‘Deadpool’ himself made that revelation at the end of the blockbuster earlier this year.
Ever since then rumours surrounding who might actually portray the hugely powerful, time-traveling mutant, who also happens to be the son of Cyclops and Jean Grey’s clone Madelyne Pryor, have started to circulate. And there’s one name that continues to be linked with it several months after originally being touted: Kyle Chandler.
During the Meet The Movie Press web series, via Comic Book.com, Mashable’s Jeff Sneider admitted as much, but at the same time he insisted that it needed to be taken with a huge grain of salt.
“There’s been a name floating around for Cable for months,” Sneider remarked. “Hasn’t changed. Don’t know if it’s changed. Didn’t make any calls about this. This was just the name that has been out there for months. So take this with a gigantic grain of salt. The biggest grain of salt your tiny little brain can imagine. The name that is floating around for Cable right now is Kyle Chandler.”
Chandler would be something of a surprise. While he’s appeared and excelled in ‘King Kong’, ‘Super 8′, ‘Argo’, ‘The Wolf Of Wall Street’, and ‘Carol’, as well as on TV’s ‘Friday Night Lights’ and ‘Bloodline’, it’s always been in supporting roles or as part of an ensemble, while he’s also never displayed the imposing presence needed to portray Cable.
Meanwhile, Sneider also added that Mackenzie Davis, the 29-year-old actress who has popped up and impressed in ‘The Martian’, ‘That Awkward Moment’, and will no doubt do so again in the ‘Blade Runner’ sequel, is being pursued for the role of Domino. Sneider also tantalisingly noted that the character “is said to be the scene-stealer of the movie.”
The former member of the X-Men, Domino is as witty as Deadpool and is an expert markswoman, too, while she also has the ability to manipulate luck into her favour. A very handy weapon. Most intriguingly, though, is that Domino is the on/off again lover of Cable, which would undoubtedly add to the dynamic of the film.
We’ll find out some enough if Davis and Chandler will actually join the ‘Deadpool’ family, as ‘Deadpool 2′ is due to shoot in early 2017 ahead of its reported January 12, 2018, release date.
