Deadliest horror movie furniture revealed

If there’s a Freddy or Jason chasing you around your house or a nearby woodland shack, the natural reaction is to try to hide behind or in a piece of furniture.

This doesn’t always end well, so a new (very scientific, we assure you) study has worked out which household features are the safest and which are the deadliest.

The Furniture Market has watched 50 of the most popular horror movies of all time to determine whether it’s safer to hide in a cupboard, under a bed or behind a fridge.

They’ve done this by taking the number of times a piece of furniture helped someone escape a crazed killer and subtracting the number of times that item led to, or was involved in a character’s death.

The takeaway from their research is simple: stay well clear of beds. They have a “Chance-of-death ranking” of +7, topping the list.

If you wanted to evade a mass murderer though, and we assume you would do, the best bet is a simple locked door, which has a rating of -22.

‘Alien’, 'Psycho’, 'Halloween’ and 'Final Destination’ are among the 50 films the study was based on.

For a classic example of bed-based murder, here’s a particularly painful one from ‘Freddy vs Jason’.
