DDA Launches Awards Campaign Division Headed By Former Weinstein Exec

EXCLUSIVE: PR agency DDA has launched an Awards & Special Projects division in the heat of Emmy voting season and as the fall film awards-season is poised to kick into high gear. The new unit will be spearheaded by Tolley Haycock Shields, a former Weinstein Company publicity exec who contributed to campaigns for Weinstein’s awards pics Carol, The Hateful Eight and The Hunting Ground last year as well as The Imitation Game, Django Unchained, Silver Linings Playbook, Undefeated and Best Picture Oscar winner The Artist.

Shields, who also has served as an awards consultant, will have the title of Director, Awards & Special Projects, and operate out of DDA’s London office. She will be tasked with managing and building upon the existing awards client base and providing strategy and insight for campaigns across multiple disciplines, adding upon the company’s current awards offerings that include PR and event management. Recently, DDA was involved in campaigns for Open Road’s Best Picture Oscar winner Spotlight and The Theory of Everything.

Shields will report to a board that consists of partners Lawrence Atkinson, Dana Archer and John Stannard as well as Neil Bhatt.

“As the awards landscape continues to evolve and our current clients generate acclaimed content across film and television, it was a natural decision to extend DDA’s offering in this space, ensuring we provide a 360-degree service for the industry,” said Atkinson, DDA’s CEO. “Tolley’s exceptional track record across a number of award-winning titles makes her a fantastic fit for the agency and we look forward to seeing this department flourish.”
