DC’s Booster Gold Won’t Join Justice League On The Big Screen

It’s official - ‘Booster Gold’ is being left out in the cold.

During an interview with Vulture, ‘The Flash’ and ‘Supergirl’ producer Greg Berlanti (who’s also supposedly developing the ‘Booster Gold’ movie) revealed that Booster won’t be a part of the big screen DC universe.

“As of right now we have no connective tissue to those worlds,” he revealed. “It’d be a separate thing.”

DC’s most recent big screen outings include ‘Man of Steel’, ‘Batman V Superman’ and ‘Suicide Squad’ - all of which are part of a cohesive, big screen universe… much like the films of their biggest competitors, Marvel.

Of course, ‘Wonder Woman’, ‘The Flash’ and ‘Aquaman’ movies are also on the way, with appearances expected from Cyborg, too. But while all these films will tie together to form the basis of the big screen Justice League, it looks as though Booster Gold won’t be dropping by to say hello.

But is that such a good move?

DC’s recent movies have come under a lot of criticism - most frequently being deemed too dark and just way too heavy for superhero movies. ‘Booster Gold’ could have been one way to lighten up the DC Universe.

But are we getting ahead of ourselves? Could he appear eventually?

Although ‘Booster Gold’ isn’t connected to the Justice League ‘as of right now’, it could be because he has a much more important role to play - bridging DC’s film and TV universes.

It’s no secret that ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’ dabbles in time travel, much like Booster Gold. And with ‘The Flash’ currently sending ripples through time in his own TV series, it could be the right time to introduce Booster Gold. The idea of a multiverse is certainly not uncommon amongst comic book franchises… and it would make perfect sense to find the time-travelling hero appearing in both worlds, eventually.

Could ‘Booster Gold’ be DC’s first step towards integrating their film and TV efforts?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see… but let’s put it this way: Greg Berlanti also revealed that the ‘Booster Gold’ movie came about from a failed idea for a TV series that “never got off the ground.”

Intriguing.
