DC's Flash movie may be directed by "Spider-Man: Homecoming" scribes

17 Jan – Marvel and DC fans, time to unite once again, the latter's standalone Flash movie starring Ezra Miller is reportedly looking at two Marvel scribes for the directing gig.
"Spider-Man: Homecoming" writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are currently in talks to helm "Flashpoint", Variety reports.
Since director Rick Famuyiwa left the project, Warner Bros. has been looking for potential helmers. Ben Affleck has at one point been courted but the actor-director passed on it.
The studio has taken the chance to rewrite the script in the meantime and with Daley and Goldstein being eyed for the directors' chairs (and based on how the character was portrayed in 2017's "Justice League"), it can be assumed that the speedster's standalone movie will carry a comedic tone.
Daley and Goldstein's co-writing and co-directing credits include movies such as "Vacation" (2015) and the upcoming "Game Night".
Miller, who debuted as the Scarlet Speedster in last year's "Justice League", will of course be reprising the role but only after he has wrapped up filming for "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald".
The 25-year-old will be returning as Credence in the second instalment of the "Fantastic Beasts" franchise, which will hit cinemas this November.
Miller's standalone Flash movie, "Flashpoint", will be based on the topsy-turvy 2011 DC Comics crossover event, in which Barry Allen wakes up in an alternate reality without his powers. Not only that, Superman is merely a skinny boy instead of a strong man, Bruce's father is Batman (while Bruce himself is the one killed with his mother), Cyborg is popular, and Aquaman and Wonder Woman are fighting each other.
"Flashpoint" is planned for release in 2020.
