Dax Holt Is Leaving TMZ (Exclusive)

Dax Holt, a producer and correspondent for TMZ who has been on its TV show since its 2007, is leaving, TheWrap has learned.

Besides appearing on air chatting about which celebrities were spotted where — and what they said to TMZ’s ubiquitous camera crews — Holt often represents the company on radio and news programs.

Word of Holt’s departure quickly spread through the TMZ newsroom on Wednesday. TMZ is run by legal journalist Harvey Levin.

Holt, 34, has appeared on shows including “Good Day L.A.” and “Showbiz Tonight.” He has also appeared on “Lou Dobbs Tonight” and “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren.” Holt is married with children, who he frequently shares photos of on social media. He is moving on to another project that will be announced shortly, according to our source.

TMZ did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.

Back in March, Holt got his family involved with TMZ by sharing “an insanely graphic pic of his wife’s foot” on the site.

TMZ, which stands for “thirty mile zone,” refers to the 1960s term used to monitor rules for filming in Hollywood. Since launching in 2005, TMZ has emerged as one of the most important media organizations in America, breaking stories on a regular basis.
