David Rubin Set To Produce 2016 Governors Awards
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has tapped veteran casting director David Rubin to produce the eighth annual Governor Awards. The November 12 event at the Roy Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland will honor actor Jackie Chan, Oscar-winning film editor Anne V. Coates, casting director Lynn Stalmaster and documentarian Frederick Wiseman.
An Emmy winner for the 2012 HBO telefilm Game Change, Rubin has more than 100 as casting director including Warren Beatty’s upcoming Rules Don’t Apply. He also worked on such films as Wild, Trumbo, Men in Black and The English Patient and TV’s Wayward Pines, Political Animals and Temple Grandin,
“David’s creativity and broad film expertise, coupled with his enthusiasm for this year’s honorees, make him the perfect choice to produce a memorable Governors Awards,” said Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs, who made the announcement today.
Said Rubin, who is producing the Governors Awards for the first time: “I am delighted and truly honored by this opportunity to help my fellow Academy governors pay tribute to four cinema legends. Jackie Chan, Anne Coates, Lynn Stalmaster and Frederick Wiseman have each forged a unique, trailblazing path that has left an enduring film legacy. I look forward to producing the celebration they so richly deserve.”
