David Chang and Epicurious among big food winners of Webby Awards
Chef David Chang "The Mind of a Chef" and Epicurious are among some of the big food and drink winners of the 2018 Webby Awards, which were released Tuesday.
In the 22nd edition of the Webbys, which recognize the best in online and digital content, David Chang of the Momofuku empire was honored with a Webby Special Achievement for "bringing nuanced conversations on food, authenticity, and culture to the Internet" with the Netflix series "Ugly Delicious."
Longtime Webby favorite Epicurious also maintained its stronghold as the best food website, taking both the Webby and People's Voice awards.
Meanwhile, in the category of online film and video, the Webby went to "The Mind of a Chef," while the People's Voice Award went to BuzzFeed's viral video "$17 Fried Chicken Vs. $500 Fried Chicken," which has been viewed more than 17 million times since being uploaded six months ago.
Webby winners are awarded by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, made up of more than 2,000 industry experts and technology innovators.
And the best food and drink-related mobile site and app was given to recipe aggregator Yummly.
