David Beckham is playing a ‘disgruntled knight’ in the new Guy Ritchie movie, ‘King Arthur: Legend of the Sword’.

And it’s no wonder he’s disgruntled with a disfigurement of that magnitude. And not to mention that gob-full of rotten, yellowing teeth.

Dropping a snapshot of the make-up team’s sterling work on Instagram, he added simply: “Rough day at the office.”

According to IMDb, his character is called ‘Blackleg Leader’, but that’s as much detail about what he’s up to on screen as we have, though we do know that he has some lines.

The former footballer appears abundantly aware of potential for criticism, however.

“I am very aware that many sportsmen and other celebrities have turned their hand to acting and failed,” he said in an interview with The Times.

“I know that it is a tough profession, where you need a huge amount of skill and discipline, and I wouldn’t want to push myself forward too soon, without learning more about it, and doing a lot more practice.”

“I had 13 lines and practised a huge amount beforehand. Guy had someone come and rehearse with me, and I did that an hour every day in the build-up.”

It’s due out across the UK on May 19.
