The Force was not with this ‘Star Wars’ fan…

At least, not on May the Fourth when he wore a Darth Vader costume to school.

A student wearing a Darth Vader costume sparked an incident at a Wisconsin high school on Thursday, after a concerned parent thought he was wearing body armour and alerted police to his presence – a presence they’ve not felt since…

The incident occurred on Thursday morning at Ashwaubenon High School, where the entire facility was placed into lockdown and then evacuated, after the possible ‘threat’ was reported.

“The student was wearing a Darth Vader outfit with a plastic mask and was carrying a bag with him, and that outfit looked like he might be wearing a bulletproof vest or a flak jacket,” an unidentified police officer told reporters.

And in fairness to the concerned parent, Darth Vader has been known to be a bit trigger happy when it comes to the destruction of entire planets…

“That, with wearing that mask and walking into the back door of the school, made a person very concerned. And we expect that to happen. We sure hope that people would call when this stuff takes place,” they added.

But it sounds as though Darth Vader is now in the clear.

“We believe it was an innocent mistake right now,” they added.

The student was clearly celebrating Star Wars Day – a celebration which takes place every year on May the Fourth (a wordplay on the phrase ‘May the Force be with you’). But if he was looking for fellow ‘Star Wars’ fans to share his enthusiasm for the classic sci-fi films, it seems he was looking in Alderaan places…

‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ will star Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher.

Rian Johnson both wrote and directed the movie.

‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ heads to cinemas on 15 December 2017.
