Dante Lam casts Xin Zhilei in "The Rescue"

2 May – While Dante Lam rarely casts a female actor in a heroic role in his movies, he admitted that it would be different this time with "The Rescue".

As reported on Singtao, the director, who cast actress Xin Zhilei as the sole female member of the rescue team, shared that he had his eyes on Xin since he saw her on the reality show, "The Birth of Actors".

"I want to create an empowering female role in my movies, and I think her character would work well in a rescue team," he said.

Working with Dante for the first time, Xin admitted that she enjoyed it very much.

"I even learned how to fly a plane because I would need to pilot one in the film. If it wasn't for this film, I would not have chance to learn. The audiences will see a different side of me in the new movie," she said.
