‘Dancing With the Stars’ Eliminates Second Couple of Season 23

“Dancing With the Stars” eliminated the second couple of Season 23 on Tuesday.

Rick Perry and partner Emma Slater were sent packing at the end of the night, based on a combination of judges’ scores and audience votes.

“I did this for all the veterans out there, and I hope everyone will go out there and find a group to support those guys,” Perry said after host Tom Bergeron announced the elimination.

Week three of the ABC ballroom dance competition show pitted the contestants against one another in head-to-head challenges, with the winners walking away with immunity.

After Monday night’s performances, Jana Kramer & Gleb Savchenko, Vanilla Ice & Witney Carson, James Hinchcliffe & Sharna Burgess, Calvin Johnson Jr. & Lindsay Arnold, Maureen McCormick & Artem Chigvintsev, and Laurie Hernandez & Val Chmerkovskiy were the six couples safe from elimination.

That left Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, Ryan Lochte, Terra Jolé, Amber Rose and Marilu Henner as the six celebrities on the chopping block Tuesday night.

Henner and her partner Derek Hough, as well as Babyface & Alison Holker and Ryan Lochte & Cheryl Burke were revealed to be safe throughout the night thanks to the audience voting. At the end of the two-hour show, Perry was cut from the competition.

Perry, the lowest-scoring competitor of the season to-date, took a beating from the judges on Monday night over a stiff paso doble that was deemed inferior to that of Vanilla Ice, who won immunity.

“Dancing With the Stars” airs Monday and Tuesday nights at 8/7c on ABC.
