‘Damnation’: Lead Aden Young Exits USA Pilot

Aden Young (Rectify) has departed as lead in USA Network’s drama pilot Damnation just days before filming was to begin. According to sources, the departure was due to creative differences. The plan is for production on the pilot to start on Monday as scheduled, with recasting currently going on.

Written and created by Tony Tost (Longmire), Damnation is described as an epic saga of the secret history of the 1930s American heartland, chronicling the mythic conflict and bloody struggle between big money and the downtrodden, God and greed, charlatans and prophets. The pilot centers on Seth Davenport — the role that Young was cast in — a man masquerading as a small town Iowa preacher in the hopes of starting a full-blown insurrection against the status quo. Focused on his mission, he is unaware that an industrialist tycoon has hired a professional strikebreaker named Creeley Turner to stop the uprising by any means necessary. But unbeknownst to those around them, these two men already share a secret bloody past.

Damnation was Young’s followup to Sundance TV’s Rectify, on which he played the leads for four seasons.
