Dakota Johnson shocked by 'nightmare' scrutiny over her tooth gap

Dakota Johnson was shocked by the scrutiny she faced after the gap between her front teeth closed.

Back in August, the actress was photographed smiling at the premiere of her movie, The Peanut Butter Falcon, with fans soon noticing that the space between her two front teeth was significantly smaller than before.

And in a new interview with her Bad Times at the El Royale co-star Cailee Spaeny for U.S. InStyle magazine, Dakota confessed that the intense media attention she faced over the dental work was her worst nightmare.

"It will always be strange to have so much scrutiny on your appearance," she explained. "Like, everyone was freaking out when they thought that I'd closed the gap in my teeth. The whole thing was a nightmare for me, honestly. I was so upset because I've had the gap my whole life."

Dakota insisted that the gap had closed after she had a retainer on the back of her teeth removed, and she was left stunned by the worldwide coverage that focused on the gap.

"The fact that it was global news was so shocking to me because of the actual global news that we should be talking about. But, anyway, now I have a retainer, and I'm trying to get my gap back," the 30-year-old laughed.

Previously, Dakota opened up on losing her tooth gap during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and joked that she was now getting food stuck in her teeth.

"I'm sad about my gap tooth too so I'd really appreciate some privacy during this time. I have to deal with a host of new problems now, I get food stuck in my teeth whereas before it would just slide right through," she quipped.
