Crystal Fung goes from door to door to donate face masks

19 Feb – Crystal Fung recently revealed that she has been going from door to door to donate face masks to the elderly in hopes to assist them from being infected with Covid-19.

The actress shared a series of photos from her many visits to the elderly, writing, "I was only nine years old when SARS raged in Hong Kong back in 2003. I didn't understand a lot of things and only knew what my mother told me to do - wear a mask when you go out, wash your hands frequently, and clean your surroundings with bleach."

"And then the schools were suspended, and I should have been happy staying home. But then I saw all the unhappy things on the daily news; how many were infected and passed away, and how sad and worried everybody was," she added.

Crystal stated that 17 years later a similar thing is happening around Hong Kong, but at least she is all grown up and is able to help others instead of sitting around reading the news.

"Hundreds of face masks were brought in with the help of a friend. I have sent these masks to the elderly living in the old flats, and saw a lot of them having mobility problems," she said.

The actress also indirectly addressed the methods used by some in donating face masks on the streets, stating that it takes the elderly minutes to even get to the door, which makes it even more difficult for them to line up on the streets to get their face masks.

"I don't know when this struggle will end, but if everybody goes one step further, with more love and unity, it should be easier," she added.
