7 Nov– The Commercial Radio Hong Kong (CRHK) recently assured that it will continue holding its annual music awards, the Ultimate Song Chart Awards Presentation this year.
As reported on Mingpao, a spokesperson made the particular statement following news that rival station RTHK will be cancelling the 42nd Top Ten Chinese Gold Songs Award due to the civil unrest that has been going on in Hong Kong for the past several months.
"This year's event will be held as scheduled on 1 January 2020. The latest news will be announced on our official website," said the spokesperson.
The same can be said about Metro Radio's Hit Awards, with its rep saying that the event will be held as usual.
"We will continue to move towards this direction. Details will be announced later.
The station also declined to make further comments about RTHK's decision.
As for Jade Solid Gold Top Ten Songs Music Awards, TVB's rep assured that there will be no changes to its original plan to hold the awards ceremony.
RTHK's Top Ten Chinese Songs Music Awards was among the four music awards in Hong Kong (aside from the aforementioned three) that are given the most attention by the media, fans, and record companies. This would be the first time the event is cancelled in 42 years.
