"Crazy Rich Asians" author's new book to be adapted into film

10 Jul – Kevin Kwan is just getting crazy richer as aside from his "Crazy Rich Asians" novel trilogy, now his latest book will also be adapted for the big screen.
It was reported by Variety that the film rights to Kwan's "Sex and Vanity", which was released just last week on 30 June, have been acquired by Sony Pictures and SK Global.
Already a New York Times bestseller, the novel follows a young woman, born to a Chinese mother and New Yorker father, who is torn between two worlds – the WASP establishment of her father's family and George Zhao, a Chinese-Australian surfer she finds herself falling for despite how hard she tries to resist.

There's no production or release date set for the big screen project yet, as most likely it will only get into motion after the planned "Crazy Rich Asians" sequels are wrapped.
Following the global success of "Crazy Rich Asians" in 2018, a film adaption which Kwan also worked with SK Global on, Warner Bros. is now already developing sequels for it based on the two remaining books in the trilogy, "China Rich Girlfriend" and "Rich People Problems".
The sequels were planned to be shot back-to-back this year but most likely productions will be delayed since the pandemic has caused a major disruption to filming schedules worldwide.
Jon M. Chu will return to helm the sequels, with Henry Golding, Constance Wu and Michelle Yeoh reprising their respective roles as couple Nick Young and Rachel Chu and Nick's mother Eleanor Young.
