COVID-19 closures: Far East Hospitality will retain all employees at Le Meridien Sentosa

SINGAPORE – Le Meridien Singapore, Sentosa announced today (31 Oct) that it will cease operations by 11.59pm.

The five-star hotel is situated opposite Imbiah Station on the Sentosa Express monorail and features 191 guestrooms, including suites with Japanese private Onsen pool. Its 243 sq m of function space with a 198 sq m ballroom was frequently used for wedding ceremonies.

In a Facebook post shared today, the hotel thanked all of its past and present guests, business partners and associates for all the support over the past couple of years. “It has been a true pleasure welcoming you all to the compelling destination of Sentosa Island,” the post added.

In addition, the hotel would no longer be affiliated with Marriott International.

Currently, Marriott International is managing 11 hotels in Singapore including The Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore, W Singapore Sentosa Cove, Sheraton Towers Singapore, Four Points by Sheraton Singapore, The St. Regis Singapore and The Vagabond Club.

Marriott International shared with Yahoo Lifestyle SEA a statement: “Le Méridien Singapore, Sentosa is owned by Far East Hospitality and is currently being managed by the Marriott International group under the Le Méridien brand. Given the current business climate, the parties to the management agreement have mutually agreed that the management agreement will be terminated as of 23:59 on 31 October 2020, after which, the hotel will no longer be managed by Marriott International nor under the Le Méridien brand.

We’d also like to advise that all associates have been retained and offered employment by Far East Hospitality, which owns the resort.”
