The majority of beauty campaigns we're used to seeing feature 20-something models with flawlessly (and unrealistically) airbrushed faces - 69-year-old Maye Musk is showing us, yet again, why that's a mistake. The new Covergirl spokesperson has the skin of a marble statue, a hairdo I could never pull off, and the attitude of a woman who knows it. She's also a trained nutritionist and grandmother of ten.

The timeless beauty took time out of her very busy schedule to chat with us about nutrition, gray hairs, and as the kid’s say “being a GOAT.” Ahead, let Musk help you keep your New Year’s resolutions and find out what New York Fashion week runways the model will be conquering this year.

What’s it like to be the face of Covergirl at 69?

It’s fantastic. I feel great. It’s really incredible for me.

What’s the reaction from older women seeing you as the face of a beauty brand? Do you connect with an audience that can sometimes be underrepresented in the beauty world?

The reaction has been completely positive. Now on Instagram you can leave comments on posts and I’m reading the comments, and everyone is saying they love it. They are so happy to see an older person.

I read the comments and they say “You look like me and this makes me feel so happy.” People also use the term GOAT, which I’ve never heard of before. My team had to explain to me it was a good a thing and that it meant the "Greatest Of All Time."

Do you think the beauty industry is wising up in regards to diversity in race, age, and gender?

I definitely think the beauty industry is wising up. We are seeing a lot more representation and different people. I never thought I’d be a Covergirl at almost 70. Covergirl is doing a lot of great stuff here.

How have you battled ageism in the industry?

I haven’t had a battle, really. I just carried on working. Yes, and I suppose people wouldn’t call if they wanted an 18-year-old. They just wouldn’t call me. But, my only battle is that I can’t get grandmother ads, although I have 10 grandchildren. I don’t look like their grandmothers. Let’s see in 10 or 20 years if I can get some work. I aspire to that now.
