The Warrens' haunting experiences will continue in "The Conjuring 3".
12 Sep – James Wan's "The Conjuring" horror franchise is not done terrifying moviegoers yet.
Producer Peter Safran confirmed to Cinema Blend that the seventh instalment of the franchise is in active development and is aiming to start filming by next year.
The upcoming movie is none other than "The Conjuring 3", which is a follow up to 2016's "The Conjuring 2".
Since last year, fans are already aware that "The Conjuring" movie series will be a trilogy, as it was previously announced that David Lindsay Johnson, who also wrote the 2016 sequel, was working on the script to "The Conjuring 3".
Now Safran brings update that not only is he confident that the third "The Conjuring" movie will film in 2019, it is also looking at a 2020 release in cinemas.
The upcoming movie will see the return of Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren, respectively.
However, it is still not known whether Wan will be back in the director's seat for the third outing. He himself stated in several interviews last year that he was unsure of his return since he would be busy helming "Aquaman".
Even "The Nun", the latest movie in the "The Conjuring" franchise, is only produced and written but not directed by James Wan.
Not much has been revealed about "The Conjuring 3" except that it will no longer follow the haunted house setup that was featured in its predecessors.
The "The Conjuring" franchise has been scaring up profits since the first movie, "The Conjuring", was released in 2013.
Wan's horror movie was both commercially and critically successful, resulting in the birth of the "The Conjuring" Universe, which currently stands at eight movies, including upcoming releases.
The original "The Conjuring" trilogy makes up three of the movies in the horror universe, joined by another three from the "Annabelle" spinoff trilogy, the latest movie "The Nun" and the yet-to-be-dated "The Crooked Man"; the latter two are spinoffs based on the characters found in "The Conjuring 2".
"Annabelle 3" will be released before "The Conjuring 3", as the haunted doll movie is filming this fall and slated for release in 2019.
"The Nun", the latest instalment of the franchise, is currently haunting the big screens in cinemas nationwide.
