16 Nov – BTS Army, your "Idol" is on "Fire"! On the big screen that is.

"Burn the Stage: The Movie", the first ever movie from K-pop group BTS, opened in local cinemas yesterday and Malaysian Army excitedly gathered together to be among the first to catch the movie in the country.

"We are incredibly thrilled by the response of "Burn the Stage: The Movie" in our cinemas," said GSC CEO Ms. Koh Mei Lee, "and are very thankful for the strong support it has received from the BTS Army across Malaysia."

It was a concert-like atmosphere at GSC Mid Valley yesterday evening, where fans flocked the cinema long before the first screening was to begin at 9pm.

It was the perfect chance for them to meet with other fans in the same fandom, said some of the girls that we spoke to.

When asked what exactly do they do while waiting, they replied that some of them gave out photocard sets and slogans to other fans, or they just "chilled and spazzed"

Some of their spazz topics included the group's songs, recent activities and their BTS dolls (plush toys made in likeness of their favourite members), which some of them brought to accompany them during the screening.

BTS Army came armed with merchandise like photocards, slogans, lightsticks and dolls to show their support for the K-pop group's first movie.

Product endorsement being one of the top things to do for a K-pop star, it was no surprise to see some of the more affluent fans sporting the Puma sneakers which currently has BTS as the brand ambassador.

Fans also expressed gratitude that more screenings were added because most of them couldn't even get the tickets when it was launched last month, as the tickets sold out within minutes. Following the heated response, more showtimes were later added to all 36 GSC locations nationwide.

Fans who didn't get to catch the musical documentary yesterday still have their chance this weekend on 17 and 18 November.

"Burn the Stage: The Movie" follows the seven-member boyband during their "2017 BTS Live Trilogy Episode III The Wings Tour", showing their journey of 40 concerts spanning 19 cities, drawing more than 550,000 fans. It also includes behind-the-scenes look at the members at their most candid moments together and interviews from them.
